Assistant Director
Edgerley Family Community Children's Center

Horizons for Homeless Children is a leading organization dedicated to providing high quality programs and services to homeless children and their families.  We seek an exceptional person to assist in the management of our center for Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers. The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the Center Director in the overall management of the Center which provides full time childcare, and support services for parents, in an atmosphere of safety, nurturance, and stability.  This is a 40-hour per week, exempt position reporting to the Center Director. 

The goal of this position is to ensure high quality, developmentally appropriate care in accordance with all external regulations and organizational goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assume the role of Center Director in Director’s absence
  • Provide classroom coverage as needed
  • Assist in maintaining licensing and accreditation standards
  • Maintain records
  • Oversee transportation
  • Oversee special projects
  • Assure that support services are complete

Qualifications:

  • BA degree in ECE required.
  • DEEC Lead Teacher & Director I qualified.
  • Minimum three years working in ECE
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Computer literacy required.
  • Candidate must be committed to working with homeless families.
