Temporary Family Advocate
Schoen Family Community Children’s Center

Horizons for Homeless Children is an independent, non-profit organization exclusively dedicated to serving homeless children and their families.  We are seeking candidates for this temporary position to support the families that we serve.  This is a non-exempt hourly position reporting to the Family Advocate Coordinator in the Dorchester center. We anticipate this temporary position lasting 8 to 12 weeks. HHC is actively seeking to increase the cultural diversity of its workforce.

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Intake assessment of new families
  • Coordination of support services for families in our program
  • Case management
  • Co-leading groups and workshops
  • Maintaining collaborative relationships with community providers
  • Maintaining and updating files

Qualifications:

  • BA in related field required, Masters preferred
  • Commitment to a collaborative team approach
  • Excellent communication and writing skills required
  • Experience working with homeless and/or at risk families required
  • Priority will be given to those who are bi-lingual
  • Case management experience

Benefits: 
None

Salary:    
Hourly, not to exceed 40 hours, hourly rate commensurate with experience and education.
