2009 Run for Homeless Children Marathon Team

Robert Atchinson, Lexington, MA
Bob has been a member of the Horizons for Homeless Children Board of Directors since 1998 and he and his wife Michelle remain actively involved. Bob served as Senior Vice President of Harvard Management Company for 16 years prior to founding Adage Capital Management in 2001. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of College of the Holy Cross, is on the Advisory Council to the Stanford Graduate School of Business and is a member of Strategic Grant Partners. When Bob ran the marathon in 1987, his 4 year old son Dan greeted him at the finish line saying: "We watched the race, Daddy. You didn't win." Running seems to run in the family as last year Dan ran on the Run for Homeless Children team and this year both Bob and his daughter, Katherine will be running for HHC. Bob is thrilled to be running the race with his daughter and is happy to let someone else win again! Support Bob's fundraising efforts>>

Katherine Atchinson, Lexington, MA
(pictured above with her father Bob)
Katherine and her family have been involved with Horizons for Homeless Children for many years. Currently she is studying to be a teacher at the Lynch School of Education at Boston College. As a future teacher, Katherine is dedicated to causes such as HHC that improve the lives of children and families. Though she has run a number of 5 and 10ks, this will be Katherine's first marathon! Support Katherine's fundraising efforts>>

Annie Bartlett, Winchester, MA
Annie and her husband, Samuel, have been involved with Horizons for Homeless Children and have sponsored a Playspace at each of the last two Spring Galas. Having two small children of their own has made Annie and Samuel realize how important a safe, stable and nurturing environment is for emotional and intellectual development. Annie has run two half-marathons; Boston 2009 will be her first full marathon! Support Annie's fundraising efforts>>

David Bordeau, Boston, MA
Dave ran with the team in 2005 and is thrilled to be back! He has spent much of his charitable time during the last few years helping send inner-city children to summer camp. Dave feels that the issue of homelessness is a problem that continues to afflict the community and demands attention now more than ever. Freddie Chavda, Somerville, MA
Freddie recently moved to Boston and wanted to find an organization to volunteer with. HHC was a great match. During his four years at Marquette University, he had the opportunity to volunteer at a similar organization. When he heard about fundraising and running the Boston Marathon for HHC, it was a perfect way to help the organization in another way. The Boston Marathon will be his first marathon, and hopefully the start of many more! Dan Collins, Rochester, NY
This is Dan's first time running with the Run for Homeless Children team, though he is a veteran marathoner having run the Washington D.C., Chicago, and Niagra Falls Marathons, to name just a few.  Dan comes with great experience and success in running to raise money for people in need, and is happy to be expanding his network to include Horizons for Homeless Children.
